Chunky Meats BBQ

 I'm Alex "Chunky" Lozano, sole proprietor of Chunky Meats BBQ and CMB Knives. Growing up in South Texas it was a given that the BBQ pit would be fired up and mesquite smoke would fill the air. It was a time for family and friends to sit around the table telling stories and laughing while eating some good ol' BBQ. 

As a child, I would often help my father and uncles around the BBQ pit preparing various cuts of meats to be cued up for our family feast. In 2009 my uncle Jaime created Texas Heat BBQ, which was a competition BBQ team. My responsibilities were to help prepare, season and became there primary meat cutter. I grew a fond love for the competitive atmosphere surrounding those BBQ competitions and knew I had to start my own team when my fiancé Veronica and I made the move to Washington State.

Chunky Meats BBQ started off using smaller backyard BBQ pits then finally upgrading to a custom built travelling smoker that I personally fabricated. I purchased a 120 volt wire fed welder and a buddy donated several metal pieces and a tank to begin my smoker project. Once I acquired a trailer my smoker began to take shape. It took nearly a whole summer to complete, but "Petra" was finally ready to be fired up. I named my smoker after my paternal grandmother Petra because I used to sit in the kitchen watching her prepare our meals and I believe it was there that I grew a joy for cooking. 

Despite being a Journeyman Electrician and a Packaging Mechanic Specialists for several years, I decided to attend Washington State University to obtain a degree in Agricultural Education. Attending college took me away from BBQ competitions, but it did allow me to offer my services as a private chef for various events around campus. 

Chunky Meats BBQ is not only here to provide services as your private chef, but we are here to help create those fond memories. My mother Lydia use to say this after every meal, "Pansa Llena, Corazon Contento" which translates to "Full stomach, Happy Heart". These are words that I try to live up to everyday. 

"IF IT'S CHUNKY, IT'S GOOD!!!"
